Rebecca is a licenced, fully insured Registered Physiotherapist. She received her Masters of Physical Therapy from UBC in 2006 and spent the next two years working in Vancouver-based hospitals, gaining valuable experience in acute care rehabilitation in neurology, orthopaedics, and acute medicine, including the intensive care unit (ICU). In 2009, she made the transition into private practice to follow her interests in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. Preto Mobile Physiotherapy was established in 2011. Rebecca has completed many post graduate courses in manual therapy through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is qualified to practice Medical Acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI) as an additional tool to provide exceptional service to her clients.
Rebecca believes that physiotherapy is a partnership between client and therapist and enjoys her role as educator and facilitator. Rebecca utilizes a combination of manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and where appropriate, acupuncture to reduce pain, restore joint mobility and tissue health. She also utilizes exercise therapy to restore proper movement and posture and to prevent re-injury.
In addition to practicing physiotherapy, Rebecca is involved in research at the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility (UBC), as well as with Nike Running Injury Prevention Study (2017, 2018). In 2015, Rebecca co-authored a scientific paper published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, entitled Feasibility of a follow-up hip fracture clinic.
